Cheryl Ehlers is a 12 time published and award winning artist who resides in Carlsbad, CA . Ehlers is a contemporary and impressionist artist. Previously living in Europe in her youth, she learned a lot about the beauty of cultures. Beginning with graphic design, and transitioning into commercial textile design and art, costuming, jewelry design, interior design and finally, fine art. Her signature styles are created in vibrant artworks in mixed mediums of watercolor, acrylics and textures.
'One of the engines that drive’s me to paint and create is the desire to increase my knowledge causing me to resist ideas and styles that an artist should repeat his paintings, ideas and style of presentation endlessly in order to be recognized and be classified. I create from emotion, and passion of past and present experiences and my art comes from a place deep within that is full of imagination and wonder. Art without emotion is not Art', is her motto.
She strives for emotion on paper and attempts to pull a reaction from within a viewer. Unplanned, and created from pure emotion, she literally paint whatever moves her at that moment in time.
Not stopping at 2 dimensional work, she explores three dimensional works in her whimsical gourd artwork which are unique and registered with the Library of Congress and have been nationally shown and awarded and juries art regularity for organizations and special programs.
As founder and art instructor of The Stardust Arts, a visual art program that develops creativity and imagination amongst the in need youth in local communities, her program is recognized by the California State Assembly and the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.
